A quick painting today. Trying something a little different. This was drawn in ink and painted with Winsor and daniel smith watercolors in a small watercolorMoleskine.
Great work since I last visited, Brian. I love this sunflower too ( as well as the one on a previous post)The ink lines are great here. I also like your valve...it awakens a bit of the adventure spirit in me...something like when the ship is sinking and someone's desperately trying to open or close some of these valves, or doors... I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit discouraged? Just hang in there, eventually it will pass..if I can do something, let me know. Ronell
I like this piece, probably because it reminds me of something I would have done. Especially because of the diagonal hatching in the background. I used to do that very same thing all the time a few years ago. I always tried to make all the lines perfectly parallel, which is tricky.
came back to comment on more of your lovely things - i got so carried away looking at the calendars i wasn't left with any time to admire your other lovelies. i really like these sunflowers - so happy but sturdy/strong you know? - we should be seeing a whole crop here fairly soon at a nearby school where they plant them every year. i love them. And i very much like your background. something i neglect. its really nice here!

Such a lovely sunflower!! Interesting background lines-never thought to do that.
I really like the hatching in the background. I'm in awe of how you achieved it. These have to be very long strokes...which is no easy task.
The juxtaposition between the very intricate background and the bold flowers is very nice.
