Sunflower

My wife brought home sunflowers last night! I tried a different approach this time. I drew them with a .18 rapidiograph and then applied the watercolor washes.

I came here from Andrea Joseph's place and I'll come again! Delightful sketches and quirky captions.

I like the windblown look on this sunflower. Thank you for sharing your lovely work of art, I had a pleasant time admiring them. :)

*So, did you like this approach of painting?

This is a gorgeous sunflower Brian, and I really like all your recent paintings, the colours are vivid yet subtle and they're wonderfully three-dimensional, great stuff.

Thanks for your encouragement and compliments!

I did like the combination of pen and ink and watercolor. I was not sure how the .18 rapidiograph would work on the Arches cold pressed watercolor paper. It actually worked quite well. Sometimes I feel like the ink is cheating on watercolors, like I can't achieve the detail with the watercolors. But I do like the end result. How is that for some rambling?
